The Westbury Kennel Association - All Breed Dog Show

  • Old Westbury Gardens (map)

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY pre-registered dog show entrants will be allowed into Old Westbury Gardens. Visitors are NOT permitted to bring their dogs to the Gardens this weekend.

Suffolk County Kennel Club will host an AKC Scent Work Trial on Sunday, September 29th.  AKC Scent Work is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. AKC Scent Work is broken down into two divisions. The Odor Search Division, in which the dog is searching for the odor of one or more specific essential oils, and the Handler Discrimination Division, in which the dog is searching for the scent of their handler. There will be 125 dogs entered.

The Westbury Kennel Association hosts the Sunday event on September 29th. All Breeds registered by the AKC are eligible to enter. There are 203 AKC-eligible breeds. Judging will begin at 8 AM and run to 5 PM, and exhibitors will begin to arrive at 6 AM to get their dogs ready for competition. Westbury Kennel Association will also host an Open Show in conjunction with and run simultaneously with the All-Breed Show. An Open Show allows breeds waiting for AKC recognition and approval to compete. There will be approximately 350 dogs entered.

Free with admission.
