to Benefit Old Westbury Gardens at HIGHWOOD, the Edwin Gould Estate
Highwood was built in 1931 in Oyster Bay Cove as a country estate for financier Edwin Gould, the son of railroad magnate Jay Gould. The house was designed by Henry Corse and the formal gardens and landscaping by Innocenti & Webel. Much like Westbury House, Highwood was modeled after English country house design. Edwin Gould was a founder and president of Continental Match Co., vice-president of Bowling Green Trust and president and chairman of the board of the St. Louis Southwestern Railroad.
