Experience the iconic piano works of J.S Bach, Edvard Grieg and Frederic Chopin performed by the renowned pianist, Molly Morkoski in the Red Ballroom of Westbury House
Works will include the Holberg Suite, Opus 40 by Edvard Grieg, excerpts from the Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 by Johann Sebastian Bach and Preludes by Frederic Chopin.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Molly Morkoski made her solo debut at Carnegie’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman stage in June 2007 and performed in the inaugural concert of Carnegie’s Zankel Hall under John Adams. Her performances include appearances at Carnegie’s Weill Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and festivals such as Tanglewood and Bang-on-a-Can. She has played concertos with orchestras including the Raleigh, Asheville, and Moravian Philharmonics.
Morkoski is a member of the Zankel Band, Open End Ensemble, and Exponential Ensemble, and has collaborated with ensembles like the NY Philharmonic Chamber Players and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She has worked with renowned musicians such as Dawn Upshaw and John Corigliano. Her solo disc, Threads, was released in 2012 on Albany Records, alongside a disc of works by Grammy Award-winning composer Gabriela Lena Frank.
A Fulbright scholar in Paris, she apprenticed with Ensemble Intercontemporain. Morkoski earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master’s from Indiana University, and a Doctorate from SUNY-Stony Brook. She is currently an Associate Professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.
